There isn't much to tell, other
than this; I live in Miami, Florida with my husband Alex and
my two cats Sam and Max. We are both looking to move to the
New York City area within the next 6-12 months.
For the $$$, I am a senior cmbs analyst at a huge real estate
developer in Miami. They make a ton of money each year, and
my basic job is to make sure they get all their pennies. Not
good for the karma, but good for the pocket. And even though
it is sometimes a thankless job, I truly enjoy my position.
I am even considering going back to school for an MBA in Finance
or something similar.
For fun, I tend to spend the majority of my time working on
web pages, playing computer games, or working on the next
craft project I have. I am available to re-design
your website should you have interest. Please email
me.

100things, by Merry.
In order of when I think of them:
1. I'm the editor and webmaster of the online magazine OPi8.com. (This is no longer true. I resigned in
January 2003 due to personal reasons.)
2. I work with some of the most creative people online and
I am constantly surprised at how nice they are even though
they are famous in the comic book world.
3. The majority of my friends are male and gay.
4. I originally forgot the #4 when I filled out this list.
I don't know how I typed 1, 2, 3, 5, without noticing.
5. I love all of my gay male friends like brothers. They are
my family.
6. I was born in Jamaica, New York on April 19th, 1974. I
will be 28 years of age this year.
7. I have one large plastic container for all of my Sanrio
stuff - it is about 3 feet long, 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep.
It is full.
8. Alex and I own five computers. (We actually now own about
6 or 7.)
9. One is a Mac, two run linux, and two run WIN2k. My next
computer will be a laptop, but I haven't decided if it will
be a powerbook, or a PC.
10. I secretly love Disney World.
11. I went to catholic school until the fourth grade and had
to attend Church for 30 minutes a day.
12. I was a girl scout for one year, but the only thing I
remember was making potato people out of nylons.
13. I get migraines, but I am luckily one of the 40% of people
who respond to Imitrex.
14. I used to get migraine headaches 1-2 a week due to stress.
Now I get them 1-2 every 4 months. I had one while writing
this.
15. I own a blue Honda Civic. My first car was a black Plymouth
Lazer. I had to put steering wheel fluid into the car regularly
and once drove too fast over a bump in the road and caught
air. My friend Jeannine was in the car with me at the time.
16. My mother had issues while we were growing up. She stopped
when she started taking medication while I was at college.
I love her more now than ever before and I have forgiven her
for what she did but she has left me with the inability to
respect people who don't seek help when they should.
17. I once owned a mouse beanie baby before they were popular.
I gave it to my ex-boyfriend Justin as a b-day present. I wrote on the
tag. I also bought one of the ducks, but I took off his tag
ages ago. The last time I checked a few years ago they were
being sold at 4,000 with tags intact.
18. There is only one person on this earth outside of Alex
who I would want to kiss.
19. It is a girl.
20. Alex was there when I kissed her the first time.
21. But, I have learned over the past 5 years that I am a
deeply monogamous person and no longer even flirt with these
ideas.
22. I have only been outside of the U.S. once. It was to Canada.
23. I've visited all of the states on the east coast, except
Maine.
24. I wish I had more time for gardening.
25. I have never broken a bone in my life and I've only gotten
2 stitches. I cut my finger on a metal can lid for dog food.
26. I had my gallbladder removed while I was at college. It
was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I had
to stay home for four weeks with abdominal incisions and my
dad kept making me laugh.
27. I have "mouse" elbow. (It's tennis elbow, but due to mouse
use).
28. I have two Japanese Lucky Cats on my desk at work. One
for good health, and one for good luck. (These have been retired,
as tradition calls for.)
29. I like making modular ball origami, even though it takes
a lot of time and patience. (I finished this.)
30. I am violently allergic to dogs,
shellfish will kill me, and melaleuca trees make me wish
I were dead. There are a lot of other things I am allergic
to, but if I listed them, this would become the "100things
I am allergic to" list instead of the "100things you may not
know about me" list.
31. My favorite candy is Swedish Fish. My favorite gum is
Spearmint Eclipse.
32. I have known most of my closest friends for over 10 years.
33. I prefer a tote over a purse, skirts over pants, and tights
over nylons.
34. I'm still amazed at what crap people will buy on ebay.
Especially when it is my crap.
35. I have a shark hat at work. I wear it occasionally and
no one is surprised.
36. There is only one person in my life that I truly hate.
The rest that think I hate them are wrong.
37. I am totally addicted to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and
Tuesday has come to be known as "Buffy Night" at my apartment.
Alex has learned not to expect much conversation from me that
night.
38. I have enough underwear to last three weeks. And that
isn't counting the underwear I use strictly when Aunt Ruby
visits.
39. I have a kitchen table but I rarely use it.
40. I am an avid Laurell K. Hamilton fan. (I used to be -
her most recent works have quite honestly failed to impress.)
41. When I am cold, I like to stick my feet under Alex's butt
or thigh.
42. I am a member of WLRN, the local NPR affliate. (I let
this lapse after 9/11, couldn't freaking take it anymore.
Now I am a member of Fairchild Tropical Park here in Miami.)
43. I have a betta fish which I named Fish. (Fish passed away
in late 2002.)
44. My friend Mikey moved to Australia last month. I miss
him dreadfully. (Mikey is now back and visited us in March
2003.)
45. I had a dream that I would marry a man who had dark hair
and hazel eyes.
46. I am marrying a man who has dark hair and hazel eyes.
47. I have a kinder egg addiction. It's not the chocolate,
it's the toy.
48. I was best friends with Ricky Schroeder's Cousin in fourth
grade.
49. I lost my virginity at age 19. It was a positive experience.
50. I have a very quick irish temper, but I am not prone to
hold grudges.
51. My first Halloween costume was Casper the Friendly Ghost.
I have photographic evidence of this.
52. I played the violin for 11 years. I was Concert Mistress
in highschool, but gave it up in college.
53. I've discovered recently that I'm still pretty damn good
at it.
54. I am on the United Way Committee at work. I was chosen
for my graphic design talent and my ability to draw.
55. I am learning how to draw with an Intuos Tablet. It isn't
the same as using a pen and paper.
56. I frequently have deja vu.
57. I want to learn how to salsa.
58. My favorite soda is Fresca.
59. I love stickers.
60. I am addicted to sugar, but I'm getting over it.
61. Dark red is my favorite color.
62. I don't think Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, or Mel Gibson
are very good looking, but I drool over Russell Crowe. So
does Alex's mom much to Alex's dad's consternation!
63. Several boys had crushes on me in grade school. I hated
them all.
64. I used to love anime, but now I have trouble watching
it. I think it has something to do with the fact that I typically
am doing something crafty while watching TV. If I have to
read subtitles, I can't look away.
65. I always win a modest sum at casinos, but almost never
go. The last time I played one was at the casino in CT with
my friend Tak. I winded up winning $80. Lots of money for
a college student!
66. I actually won the lotto in 2000.
67. The first time I saw my Uncle Michael was in a dream.
68. My Uncle Michael died before I was born.
69. I thought I was pregnant once, but wasn't.
70. I believe in the right to have an abortion, but I don't
know if I would have one myself.
71. Two of my grandparents died in 2000 and my father's best
friend Bill died the year before.
72. I regret that Bill will not be there to dance with me
at my wedding.
73. I hate answering the phone.
74. I want a pirate hat and a parrot. (I have a pirate hat.
Still working on the parrot.)
75. My first memory is of being held and looking out the window
at the barking dog in the backyard of my parent's apartment
in New York. I was under a year of age.
76. I want to grow old with Alex and I want to die first.
I couldn't stand living life without him.
77. I am amazing on the Dance Dance Revolution game.
78. I go to Atlanta Bread Company for lunch 1-2 a week. The
owner calls me "His Princess" and the lady at the counter
knows what I want before I get there. (Since my company moved
to the beach, I have not been. I feel sad about that, but
it is no longer a possibility.)
79. I have only killed one animal with my car. It was a frog
I ran over in highschool at 3am in the morning. I was with
my best friend Jeannine and we both cried over the corpse
like babies.
80. The scariest experience of my life was driving home from
work with my mother in an ice and sleet storm. It was fine
until I got to my road and realized the steep downhill road
was covered in an inch of ice (our house was at the bottom).
We slowly slid down the road, both of us clutching at the
car with white knuckles and eventually skidded to a halt at
the top of our driveway. The next door neighbor helped my
mom get down our driveway which was also covered in ice and
equally steep.
81. I've been in only one bad accident in my life. I was driving
home with a pizza for my parents and my recently purchased
honda civic hit a patch of black ice. The car spun out of
control, did a 180, and backed neatly into a ditch between
a rock larger than my car and a telephone pole. I counted
at least 30 cars that passed before one stopped to help me.
I am lucky to be alive.
82. My favorite band is Portishead, but I find listening to
Massive Attack to be a religious experience.
83. I used to play soccer when I was in grade school, but
I absolutely hated it.
84. I've read all of the original Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew
books.
85. I own enough sex toys that I need to keep them in four
separate containers. Regardless of what anyone says, I don't
need anymore of them.
86. Alex and I will be moving to Coconut Grove right on the
bay in October when our lease is up. (We moved, and we love
it.)
87. I have excellent credit which I believe has something
to do with the amount of phone calls I get from telemarketers
trying to sell me stuff.
88. I asked my first boyfriend out because we were mutual
friends and I wanted someone to go with to the prom. He misunderstood
and thought I liked him "that way." We dated for almost two
years. I'm not proud of that.
89. When I think about the name of this site "blahblah," I
always think in a cheezy vampire accent. (My site used to
be at kyouki.com/blahblah, but it got moved to hellomerry.com.)
90. In college I once took a class where I only went to the
exams. I got an A.
91. My favorite class in college was Animal Behavior taught
by my favorite professor David Miller.
He's the only person I have ever seen teach with such ingenuity
and compassion for his students. My second favorite class
was my Child Psychology class taught by Sam Witryol.
I still remember the majority of what was taught in those
two courses.
92. I had a bed wetting problem until the age of 10. And I
that Pary will make fun of me because of this, but I'm telling
anyway because I think Pary making fun of me is funny.
93. When I was growing up in New Jersey, my bedroom was Barbie
Pink. My brother accidentally burned the carpet in one small
area and tried to hide it by sewing pink thread over it. My
parents never noticed, but later on I wish they had.
94. I had to tell my mother at age 11 that my father took
my brother to the hospital for 3rd degree burns on his legs
from playing with gasoline and matches. I can still hear him
screaming from the pain.
95. The proudest I have been of my mother was when she told
off the neighbor and slammed the door in her face. The neighbor
decided to come over five minutes after I told my mom about
my brother's burns to tell my mom that she didn't want my
brother hanging out with her son anymore because he was a
bad influence. It was her son who gave my brother the gasoline.
Another neighbor whose son was also there sent my brother
balloons and flowers while he was in the hospital.
96. My babysitter let me watch Halloween when I was four years
old. I think this has something to do with why I love horror
movies now.
97. I am a lucid dreamer, which means I can often control
what I am dreaming about.
98. I believe our current president is a complete moron. I
cringe in horror ever time I see him talk in TV. (Update:
Yes, I still think he's a moron.) (Another update: Yep. Still
a moron.)
99. I was working on South Beach when a hurricane came through.
They didn't let me go home right away, and I had to walk to
my car in almost 100mph winds. I got knocked off of my feet
a couple of times, and only got to my car by running from
palm tree to palm tree. It was one of the most interesting
experiences of my life.
100. I believe I am smarter, funnier, prettier, sexier, happier,
luckier, more carefree, less stressed, more creative, and
hornier than the average American.
